Yep so I’m back with doing photography reviews/articles on here. This article/review is the (D) Train (My favorite NYC Subway Line). The (D) Train is an IND Route which operates between Norwood-205th Street The Bronx and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue in Brooklyn. It runs via Concourse Local, Central Park West/6th Avenue Express, The Manhattan Bridge, 4th Avenue Express (Local During Late Night Hours) and West End Local. The (D) Train has been around since 1940 when the IND 6th Avenue Line Opened. But anyways the equipment the (D) Train uses is the R68 Subway Cars (2500-2783) Based out of The Concourse Yard In The Bronx. The (D) Train is basically one of the Very few IMPORTANT lines in the NYC Subway system that does a really huge role which is provide service along the Concourse, Fill in for local service IF The (A) (B) or (C) is delayed really bad and its one of the very few routes that hasn’t changed its northern terminal last stop ever since the line was introduced. It always had 205th Street has its last stop since Day 1.
The (D) train is also unique because the Concourse line is the ONLY IND route that goes through The Bronx while the rest of the Bronx is provided by the IRT (A Division). The reason I like the (D) Train because the route uses my favorite subway cars The Westinghouse R68 Subway Cars delivered in 1986 and the interesting thing is the R68 Subway Cars been running on the (D) line ever since those cars were new and they also started on the (D) Line. My favorite part of the (D) line is when it goes local via Central Park West instead of Express which I call wonderful because my home station is at West 116th Street and I love getting photos of the (D) Train there.
The (D) Train I also grew up riding the line and that was the very first line I grew appreciation of when I started to enjoy the New York City Subway. I remember when the (D) Train used to go via the Brighton Line to Coney Island back when I was little. That ended in 2001 when the Manhattan Bridge went through rehab causing the (D) Train to end at 34th Street Herald Square instead of Coney Island. But in 2004 when the Manhattan Bridge rehab ended, they changed it to go via West End instead of Brighton due to customers demands and people wanted 24/7 service from West End to Manhattan instead of the late night shuttle which I honestly don’t blame them for complaining about.
The (D) Train is a really helpful route although it gets crowded at times but others times, its a pretty good route overall. I also remember the times when the (D) Train goes through reroutes due to construction such as it will go via 8th Avenue running local in Manhattan instead of its usual Express. Also my favorite G.O is when the (D) Train goes via Central Park West Local due to track work on the Express Tracks. Overall, the rating the (D) Train will get for its good route is a 100 out of 100 because thats how nice I am. With that said thanks for reading this review and have a wonderful night

So its been awhile since I actually post a blog entry. So here’s one I had to write about. As of 5/25/2014, The MTA New York City Transit M60 Local Bus has been discontinued and has now become a LIMITED Stop Select Bus Service. For those who don’t know, Select Bus Service is where you pay your fare off a machine on the streets and you MUST show your receipt on the bus so you can go through or get a $100 fine. The M60 Local bus debuted in 1992 and back then used RTS Buses. Now today, M60 contains ONLY Novas LFSA (Articulated Buses). I remember riding the M60 as a little child to the airport back when I was probably 5-13 years old with dad. The bus ride was a good experience. Even though the M60 is still running as a select Bus Service, it won’t be the same anymore. However I was lucky enough to ride the very LAST M60 Local Bus to ever run before it became Select Bus Service. It was a night I’ll never forget and was able to ride whats now history.
Hey everyone it’s been awhile since I uploaded a YouTube because of this project I’ve been working on called “The Daniel Smith Project”. The Daniel Smith Project is a huge photography/video project all about Daniel Smith adventures, photography, traveling, railfanning and much more.
