OK. Attention people. After hard thinking, I’ve decided to start making my “Sweet Dreams” Photography project into a huge thing and I would love for people to contribute to this one.

This is how you guys can help. Photograph something that you always love or dreamed of doing one day. For example if I love my street because of the way it looks or because I lived there for a long time, then photograph it. Or if you dreamed of working with animals, then take a pic of your favorite animal. The only rule for this is it has to be something you loved or dreamed of doing one day. With that said lets begin and btw this is NOT a contest. Just a fun filled project so good luck

The Coney Island Mermaid Day Parade (2013) Review

Yep I know I’m late but here’s the review. The Coney Island Mermaid Day parade (2013) was actually much better than the last 2 years of the parade. The parade is basically a every year thing with people dressing up as mermaids and other sea creatures. My favorite part of the parade was meeting different people and how they dressed up in different ways and such. The mermaids this year in my opinion were better than last year. I have to go to this parade again next year to see how it will play out. I gave this rating a full 10 out of 10. 

New Technology Trains On The C Train (2011 Throwback)

So officially over 2 years ago exactly on February 20th 2011, because of an incident on the E And F Trains in Manhattan, A surprise came by on the C Train but what? New Technology Trains (R160s) made a special run on the C Train to 168th Street making all C Trains stops. Now what makes it history from Daniel Smith Photography Productions? Because Daniel Smith was the first person to ever get photos those trains running on the C Train in SERVICE when he was using a Nikon D40x at the time. The New Technology Trains on the C Trains felt kind of different from riding a R32 C Train. And at the same time people were actually surprised on what they saw (Including automatic announcements) and the train wasn’t too cold or too hot. Good experienced I’ve had. 

 

How did I know it was supposed to happen?

I didn’t know because I was coming from the Gym (YMCA 63rd Street and Central Park West) and when I entered the station I was heard there was a police investigation on the E And F Trains and they were suspending service in Manhattan on those lines in both directions. While hearing that I see an unusual train coming and luckily I took my camera with me that day so. I was like lucky

 

I’m rating this a 10 out of 10 because it was nice.

The History Behind Daniel Smith Photography Productions

Here’s the full story on how “Daniel Smith Photography Productions” started so sit back and relax

 

It all started in 2002 (7 Years Old) when my interest of the NYC Subway was still growing, I started to visit those NYC Subway fan page websites such as ttmg.org and nycsubway.org which contained a lot of subway photos as well as looking at the old SubwaySpot.com and nycrail.com (Which has vintage 1990s photos). It got me into doing Joy Train riding which was fun and exciting for me and every year, I would try to explore and learn new stuff. But I felt like something was missing when I did those trains but WHAT? I needed to record these adventures with pictures and to do pictures I needed a CAMERA. When the new R160s (New Technology Subway Cars) were being delivered, It gave me the opportunity to photography trains including the old subway cars that were going bye bye for good. And from that point on that change the shape of me. It wasn’t until late 2008 I got my real non cheap digital camrera “Insignia” and then in early in 2009, the Nikon L18. When I got the Nikon L18 that changed a whole lot out of me. I grew a larger appreciation of photographing trains (Especially 2009-2010) and I learned more about improving photos and stuff. Around mid 2010, after I’ve gotten my first DSLR, I started doing photographs of nature and parks and sometimes beaches and people. The nature walks (Which I still do today) is good and relaxing for photos including Central Park. Today in the Present, I’m still learning ALOT more photography (There’s no such thing as never learning), And I’m trying to get into photography when I finish High School. Photography is something I will NEVER Leave.

Accidental Photograph Turns Out Wonderful (2012)

Well you know how you try to take a photo but you end up failing at it or the settings comes out wrong? It happened to me last year but had a very happy ending. So here’s the story

 

I was walking around Times Square Manhattan in New York City taking some photos and stuff. So when I saw a really nice tall building around 42nd Street-7th Avenue, I’ve decided to get a photo of it with natural colors and stuff. So I took out my camera change the shutter speed to low light settings so the photo will come out bright and clear. Shot my photo. I then just remembered that I’ve forgot to change the setting to make the colors natural so when I was about to delete the photo. I looked at and I just look at the photo really shocked and surprising. That’s when I realized and notice because of an epic fail/mistake the photo actually came out WONDERFUL. Yep thats true. I was really happy and it came out to be a different/cool way and I said “This was better than the natural colors”. So to this day I still think it’s the best night scenery photo I ever taken. The lesson is if you want to be creative, try to experiment different settings/features on your camera so that way you can see how it will come out and look at it in a different positive view. With that said here’s the photo

R40 D Train (Pre 2008) Throwback Review

Before June 2008 came by, The one and only R40 Slants ran on NYC Subway D Train for not only Yankees Special but for certain construction when the D Trains ran in 2 sections

 

Between Norwood-205th Street And 2nd Avenue (Via the 8th Avenue Line Southbound)

Between West 4th Street And Coney Island

 

When did that construction, It was actually FUN and the D Train had VARIETY instead of the normal R68 Subway Cars. But then after June 2008, The R40 Subway Cars no longer ran on the D Train (Even the R40M and R42 didn’t run). I’ve ridden the R40 D Train from 125th Street to 2nd Avenue a few times. GREAT RIDE. You get look through the front window and see the tunnel. R40 D Train was really nostalgic/nostalgia. After riding it to 2nd Avenue it was really cool. Too bad I didn’t record a video of it though. Riding it via 8th Avenue was FAST. The R40 D Train was a really cool experience and felt like a time tunnel.  But anyways the R40 D Train is cool, only downside is that it only ran underground.

The R40 D Train is good BUT not better as an R68 D Train (In My Opinion). Wish I rode the R40 D Train more back then. But I’ll give the R40 D Train a 9.5 out of 10.

The C Train To The Bronx (205th Street) – 2010 Throwback Review

The C Train has an interesting history. Back when the NYC Subway was new, The C Train started out running from to/from The Bronx. The C Train to The Bronx was actually nice and stuff. Then in 1998, The C Train no longer went to The Bronx and was sent to Washington Heights-168th Street as its new Northbound terminal. But then a crazy thing happened which brought back history. In 2010 (December), because of a 1-2 hour delay on the Northbound D Train, they sent this C Train (In The Picture) Up to 205th Street which is even better because it used to only end @ Bedford Park Blvd. Riding the 1964 R32 Subway Cars on the C Train that day to The Bronx was amazing because it brought back old history and the ride was really fast. The C Train has its ups and down’s but thats the best ride I had on the C Train In my life so far. The R32 C Train to 205th Street is good and nostalgia. Rating this a 10 out of 10

The Spring Breakers 2013 Movie (Review)

Yesterday 3/23/2013 I went out to see The Spring Breakers (2013 Movie) at 67th Street And 2nd Avenue in New York, NY. The movie theater is EXPENSIVE so I would not recommend that theater unless its the only one available. As for the movie itself Let me be the one to say It was………………AWESOME. This film has a lot of good comedy in it and adventure and even though they used a lot of foul language in the movie, it’s pretty good (Especially Selena Gomez who played Faith). I’m going to also note that this movie is NOT appropriate for children under 17 and its meant for adults. If I were you, I would recommend this movie for people to see. The Ending was really shocking but I’m not going to spoil it and let you viewers see it yourself. If I was to rate this movie it will be given a 9.5 oops I mean a 10 out of 10 for this wonderful adventure Rated R. Image

St. Patrick Daty Parade Review (2013)

2nd year I’ve gone to the parade and it was actually really nice. The music and the performers worked really hard with this and I love how prepare they are. The army and military are just important to the parade as well. Irish people are just important as we are and they deserved the St. Patricks Day Holiday. My favorite part of the parade is taking the pictures and see how happy the people are to celebrate. The only downside for the parade was the colder weather than last year but its all good still.
